Idaho VINE Coverage in Valley County
Idaho VINE through VINELink is the statewide custody-information and notification service. The Idaho Sheriffs' Association says it interfaces with jail booking systems throughout Idaho and IDOC and can send registered users a phone call or email when a person is released from jail or prison. Coverage still depends on the agency feed shown in the result.
For a Valley County jail detainee, confirm that the result names the county agency, then verify the event with the Detention Center. For a state prisoner or supervised client, use IDOC Resident/Client Search as the companion source. VINE is not the authority for BOP or USMS custody, and the sex-offender registry is a separate post-release system with a narrow legal purpose.
How to Check a Specific Inmate on VINELink
Begin with enough identity detail to avoid opening the wrong record. The agency and custody location are as important as the name.
- Open VINELink and choose Idaho.
- Select the people or custody search shown on the live page.
- Enter last and first name or the available identifier.
- Review possible matches and compare middle name, age or birth-date fragments, agency, and location.
- Open only the matched record and read the exact status or event text.
- Record the agency and last-update indicator, then confirm important results with that agency.
Try supported spelling variants before treating a miss as meaningful. A no-result page cannot distinguish release from delayed entry, transfer, misspelling, old data, or an agency not represented in the current search.
What VINELink Shows About a Release
The live labels can change, so follow the current Idaho interface. These result elements help interpret the record without turning a VINE event into a legal conclusion.
| Result element | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Name and identifier | Supports identity matching but still requires biographical comparison. |
| Agency | Identifies the source that should confirm the event. |
| Custody location | Shows the reported facility or responsible system. |
| Status or event | Reports the custody change transmitted by the agency. |
| Last update | Shows how current the displayed report may be. |
| Notification options | Lists available events and delivery channels for that record. |
A released or out-of-custody result supports a reported change, but may not state whether bond, sentence completion, court order, transfer, or another authority caused it. Obtain the sheriff or IDOC record for that distinction.
Register for a Valley County VINE Alert
Registration begins from the correct matched record. Select only events and channels offered by the current interface.
- Choose the notification or registration control on the matched record.
- Select offered events, including release or custody change where available.
- Choose telephone or email if the service offers it.
- Enter and confirm the contact destination carefully.
- For a telephone alert, create the PIN requested by the live prompt.
- Complete any email link or code and preserve the confirmation.
- Return to the registration if the contact information changes.
The telephone PIN acknowledges receipt and helps stop repeat calls. Current Idaho primary material does not document every screen, so do not assume email uses the same PIN. Follow the live confirmation prompt. The statewide help number is 1-866-9-VINE-ID, or 1-866-984-6343.
VINELink Limits and How to Confirm a Release
An alert is only as timely and accurate as the participating agency feed. It should trigger confirmation, not replace it. For a Valley County booking, ask the jail for the release timestamp, authority, and destination. For IDOC jurisdiction, compare Resident/Client Search and request a public movement, release-to-supervision, or discharge record when needed.
BOP's locator is the correct public route for covered federal prisoners. A past federal release date with no location can report BOP release, while UNKNOWN means release information has not been determined. USMS pretrial custody has no equivalent public name locator. ICE ODLS is separate and can include some people released from ICE custody within 60 days. None proves a Valley County jail event.
VINE and IDOC Show Different Facts
IDOC Resident/Client Search uses Last Name, First Name, and IDOC Number. Last name or IDOC number is required, and partial searching can use at least two last-name characters or three IDOC-number digits. IDOC says it updates daily but warns that fast-changing status, location, and termination data may not yet appear.
The detail page can show status, location, active sentence rows, Released to Supervision, and Sentence Satisfaction Date. A Valley sentencing row connects the IDOC matter to the county, while “Location: Valley County Jail” can mean a state client is physically in the county facility. VINE supplies notice; IDOC supplies state correctional context; the sheriff supplies the county event.
Build a Valley Release Proof Chain
Start with the VINE alert time and exact text. Then request the sheriff booking-release record with actual timestamp and event code. Match the Valley County court order or disposition to explain legal authority. If state custody followed, add IDOC status or movement information and any Commission action. These records prove different moments and should not be collapsed.
A court order may authorize release while a detainer keeps the person in custody. A county transfer can end the jail booking while another agency takes custody. Released to Supervision means prison custody ended, not that the state sentence is satisfied. Keeping those terms separate makes the one-person check more accurate.
When a Valley VINE Search Misses
A search miss has several plausible causes. The name may be spelled differently, the record may use a middle name, the agency may not have transmitted the event yet, the person may have moved to another system, or the older record may not be available through the live interface. VINE cannot label which explanation applies.
Search again with supported variants and compare the correct agency before drawing a conclusion. For a known Valley County booking, call the Detention Center and request the public booking-release event. For an IDOC number or Valley sentencing case, search Resident/Client Search and note its data-current timestamp. For a federal case, consult BOP or the federal docket. A failed Idaho VINE query is never proof of release.
Do not confuse registry tracking with custody notice. The Idaho Sex Offender Registry covers only people with a qualifying registration duty and carries its own identity and use warnings. Registry presence may indicate a qualifying person is outside incarceration, but it does not supply a Valley County release date and does not cover all released people.
Use Valley VINE Alerts Safely
VINE is purpose-built for notification and does not charge for the statewide service. Even so, notice can be delayed by technical conditions or source-agency timing. Never promise that a message will arrive before a release. In an emergency, contact law enforcement rather than waiting for a website, email, or automated call.
Keep access to the registered phone or email and update it when contact details change. Save the confirmation without publishing the other person's identifying data. When a call repeats, use the PIN created under the live telephone prompt to acknowledge it. Follow the on-screen or email confirmation method for email because the current primary sources do not establish that email uses the telephone PIN.
After an alert, ask the responsible office a narrow question. Valley County Jail can confirm a county booking event. IDOC can explain a state status or direct a request for a movement record. District 4 can answer general supervision-process questions, but an individual reporting location depends on the live supervising-district assignment. A VINE release alert does not show that parole, probation, or a sentence has ended.
VINE Alerts Do Not Prove Discharge
For final state discharge, the Commission's Gold Seal notice is stronger proof than a VINE status change. It is routed through the last supervision district and can take up to a month. Release from prison, release to supervision, sentence satisfaction, and formal discharge remain separate milestones. A VINE alert proves none of them by itself.
